A lot of Jeep Liberty fans are not happy at all about the way the new Liberty looks. No longer cute, it looks like a scaled-down version of the hulking Jeep Commander SUV. (It's so close, in fact, that a parking garage attendant tried to charge me the "oversized" rate.)
The old Liberty was cute as a button with its bubbly body and perky round headlights. It still had good off-road skills, though, and could take a serious beating even tough it looked more Mouseketeer than military surplus.
The only design feature I particularly objected to - but it really bugged me - was the little non-functional side vents near the back of the hood. Jeeps should never have any non-functional anything. This is getting dangerously close to being a Hummer.
