Deluxe airport lounges

Flying business-class has its perks: Wider seats, better food, and chichi toiletries. But increasingly, the real pampering starts before you get on the plane. Business 2.0 magazine has the details on some of the world's most lavish layovers.

Golden Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International

Opened: 1998 (renovated in 2005)

The Golden Lounge isn't the most lavish of the premium-class airport refuges, but it is the only one that features a brand-new putting green. If you work up an appetite there, you can cozy up to the abundant buffet, which offers 10 kinds of sandwiches, 22 different breads, 55 beverage choices, and everything from Western roast beef to Eastern noodle bowls. You could keep busy in the business center, which provides all the standard services (wireless Internet, copy and fax machines, etc.), but skip it if you don't have anything urgent. The aptly named Relaxation Room, with its massage chairs and foot massagers, is arguably a much better use of your preflight time.
