The lap of luxury

At a new resort in Georgia, racing takes center stage. Victory Lane, 70 miles west of the Savannah/Hilton Head airport, boasts a world-class 4.5-mile road course blessed by racing legend Phil Hill. The resort won't open till 2009 but homes are selling now, and Fortune got a sneak peek.

Victory Lane founder Stephen Brown, along with two other partners, designs and builds high-end lifestyle communities. The Phil Hill Motorsports Complex features a 17-turn, 4.5-mile racetrack that has a (wild!) average speed of 125 mph.

The facility will also be wired with a patent-pending system that recognizes any problem, such as a spin or crash, and automatically alerts the track manager to shut down the course.

The track's 6,000-foot straightaway doubles as the resort's runway, which is long enough to handle a fully loaded G500 -- undoubtedly the best way to reach Victory Lane. The trackside paddocks double as hangars for cars and planes (they range from $100,000 to $150,000 and can hold up to 175 vehicles). The complex also has a nearly one mile go-cart track, ATV trails, a helipad, and a motocross track.
