In spite of record oil prices, crowded skies and angry customers, the airlines are starting to make money again.

The 10 largest carriers are projected to post more than $5 billion in profits this year on top of the $3 billion they made last year. (Of course, from 2001 to 2005, the industry lost some $35 billion.)

Hill thinks profitability has come off the backs of the airline's employees.
