Money Magazine put together a panel of women ages 20 to 70 to sample 5 popular Valentine's Day chocolates. Taste and presentation were considered, along with value.
Harry & David: Grand Collection, $29.95
Harry & David: Grand Collection, $29.95
Grade: A -
What it includes: A one-pound box with 38 pieces covering a spectrum of fillings, including cherry fondant, caramel and mocha
Price per piece: 79 cents
Signature piece: The creme brulee dark chocolate pear, in honor of the maker's signature fruit
Taste: Wow! High-quality chocolate in a stunning variety of well-rendered flavors.
Presentation: Somewhat generic box with a printed "ribbon." How about an actual ribbon?
The bottom line: The look could be more attractive, but the price can't be beat: You're not going to find a better box of chocolates for $30 or less.
