Dr. Michael D. Parkinson, president of the American College of Preventive Medicine, says good health is about four basic rules:

•Eat right
•Exercise 30 minutes a day
•Don't smoke
•Manage your stress.


"The biggest misconception among boomers is their sense of futility," says Parkinson. "They think, `I've let myself go to pot and there's nothing I can do.'

"That's crazy," he says. "Lose one pound. Walk around the block. Change your behavior at any age and you'll see health benefits you couldn't imagine."
