Summer of sequels!

The major Hollywood studios are making big bets on some familiar names. With Spidey, Shrek, Jack Sparrow and Harry all on tap, could this be a record-breaking summer at the box office?

I made fun of another summer sequel starring Matt Damon. I won't make fun of this one.

Damon, who has been in two previous films based on the Jason Bourne spy from the popular Robert Ludlum novels, has created a nice little franchise for himself with the Bourne movies.

"The Bourne Identity" grossed $121.7 million in 2002 and Damon topped that with a $176.2 million take for "The Bourne Supremacy" in 2004.

Pandya of BoxOfficeGuru said, however, that since this movie is coming out in August, people might feel "actioned out" by the time the latest Bourne movie hits theaters.

But Exhibitor Relations' Bock thinks it will be a hit. Damon is coming off a supporting role in the Academy Award-winning "The Departed," and is an actor that Bock thinks people are willing to watch get Bourne again.

"'The Bourne Ultimatum' will do well. People like Matt Damon," said Bock.
