6 hot hotel hangouts

Forget getting a good night's rest -- these bars and lounges keep patrons mingling well into the morning.

Purple Bar at the Sanderson in London
Beyond the bustling crowd stationed at the hotel's Philippe Starck designed Long bar, those looking for a little more intimacy will find solace at the Sanderson's tucked away treasure: the Purple Bar.

Draped in violet silk opera curtains, and furnished with lavender Queen Anne chairs and purple etched Venetian mirrors, the bar is dramatic but also serene, which is mostly due to limited seating and a super stiff door policy (reservations are required) that keeps the crowds at bay.

But even if you get turned away, you can escape in style in one of the hotel's silver Mercedes sedans-for-hire idling outside.
