An acre of rainforest General Electric's corporate finance arm gave an acre of rainforest to each of its 1,000 customers. Run through the Nature Conservancy, the program collects $50 for each acre, then uses the money to protect rainforest in Costa Rica by running stewardship programs with the locals, buying the land outright, or a combination of both.
