Killeen, Texas

Key stat: An "executive-type" four- bedroom, 2,200-square-foot home in Killeen costs $136,725, according to the Coldwell Banker Home Price Comparison Index

Texas is blessed with much undeveloped acreage and has a comparatively laissez-faire attitude toward new construction. Consequently, despite a decades-long population boom, supplies of new housing continue to meet the increasing demand, which keeps prices from accelerating wildly.
