There are trade-offs - no back seats, choppy ride, twitchy highway manners - but the ForTwo is cheap, and it goes a long way on a gallon of gas.

There's no fancy technology involved, either. It's just a small engine running a small, two-seat car. Its 1.0-liter three-cylinder runs on high-priced premium fuel, but it makes a little of it go a long way.
