Advantages:
Atlanta-based SunTrust has a strong presence in Florida and the Southeast, both in consumer banking and in banking for mid-sized businesses.

Disadvantages:
Since SunTrust has no branch network in California, this acquisition would still leave a hole in JPMorgan's coverage. It also holds a large portfolio of commercial real estate loans, and loans to homebuilders.
