State College, PA
Walk or bike to work: 42.4%

Described by residents as a town with big city amenities and a small town atmosphere, State College is best known as the home of Penn State University.

The university is definitely the town's biggest employer, and many of its employees live near the downtown campus, making it a quick commute on foot or on bicycle.

Bike lanes line many of its streets, and with more than half of the city's population between the ages of 15 and 24, there's no shortage of residents leaving their cars at home.
