A local bank or credit union Customer annoyance with high fees and vague fine print has led some major banks to offer "consumer-friendly" cards. But some still take you to the cleaners for minor missteps, like sending your payment one day late. For a card that won't, check with a small local bank or credit union. At Commerce Bank, based in New Jersey, cardholders can miss payments by up to 31 days, penalty-free.
