Reliability for the SC is based on only a single year's data, rather than as much as three years for cars that have been largely unchanged for that long.

The Porsche Cayman, Scion tC and Ford Mustang V6 ranked ranked second, third and fourth in dependability in this category. None of those cars were recommended by Consumer Reports, though, because the magazine hasn't performed performance tests on them or, in the case of the Scion, it scored too poorly when tested..

The second-ranked car to actually earn a recommendation was the Porsche 911.
