The distributor of electronic components, storage devices, and embedded systems saw sales increase 14.5% to $18 billion while profits jumped 27% to $499.1 million.

The jump in revenue was largely due to acquisitions, and Avnet faced a double-digit fall in sales during the first quarter of fiscal 2009 as the global economic meltdown took hold.
