I'm currently assisting the town management office and human resources department, answering phones, processing invoices, learning the recruiting process. They were very shorthanded, so the jobs are probably getting done more efficiently now. Before, I was working as a project manager at an aerospace company, but that was short-lived. It was only six months before I got laid off. Obviously, it's pretty scary getting laid off from a position. And that was the first time I had ever been laid off.
At first, I was just applying for everything and anything. The position I got with the Town of Prescott Valley is actually a temporary position for now because they are on a hiring freeze. But it's a six-month guarantee. You also have the option of looking for another job. So I'm keeping my eyes open, but I'm not going to apply for just anything. I'm going to apply for something that I want to stay with -- something long term.
