It's very simple to save money and get ahead in life -- cut out the wants.
We don't own a debit card. We use business checks and can't carry them around with us, so many items we might look at, we have to go home and get a check and by the time we get home we don't need the item.
We have envelopes in which we put X amount of dollars for things we do: gambling, vacation, gas, etc. We use propane and kerosene to heat our home. During the summer when that is not being used -- we save that amount of money for the next winter's bills in an envelope.
It's nice not to have to worry about where the next nickel is coming from. I haven't touched my IRA, I haven't sold my stocks, and our savings bonds are still growing.
