The world's largest restaurant company -- 37,000-plus outlets from Pizza Hut to Taco Bell (as well as combinations of the two) -- expanded its food empire at the rate of four new restaurants a day this year, most of which were opened outside the U.S. The company is also expanding its business in the digital sphere. A new app from Pizza Hut that allows eaters to customize their pizza and order it online generated more than $1 million in sales in its first three months. Novak expects that business to eventually account for $500 million in annual sales.
