The technologist/designer/marketer/writer has his hands in all parts of the tech world. He founded IDEO's business design discipline, which is a big area of growth for the firm, and works with some of the top tech companies on the vexing question of how to set up structures and processes that allow them to innovate routinely. His work can vary from helping companies with long-term strategy to creating new cloud-based web offerings. A founding member of Stanford's design school, he's taught revolutionary classes on design thinking. Rodriguez, 40, also has several patents under his belt from his time as an R&D engineer at Hewlett-Packard and IDEO in the 1990s. --B.K.
