Chevrolet Cruze ECO
Price: $18,175
Mileage: 28 City / 42 Hwy

The Cruze ECO is a remarkable car in a couple of ways. For one, it's more fun -- not less -- than the regular Chevy Cruze. For that, credit a turbocharged engine with a six-speed manual transmission that's a pleasure to use. (The Cruze ECO is available with an automatic, but at a cost of 2 mpg.)

This super-efficient version of GM's new compact car uses shutters that close part of the grill at highway speeds for improved aerodynamics. This version also has a lower ride height, wind blockers around the wheels for improved air flow and a special rear spoiler. The body also contains more high-strength steel which helps reduce weight.
