The A1 is a super-mini designed to compete with the Mini Cooper. Introduced a year ago, the three-door hatchback has been a hit -- more than 100,000 were shipped in the first six months of production. Audi initially determined that low fuel prices and minimal customer demand would keep the A1 out of the U.S. But the larger Audi A3 is selling well here, and the arrival of the Fiat 500 has made Americans more accustomed to small cars. Audi is said to be reconsidering its decision.
