When classifying cars, the Insurance Institute considers weight as well as size. That's why, for example, the Buick Verano appears in this list even though it's the same size as the Chevrolet Cruze, which is 200lbs lighter and listed as a "Small car." (With electric cars, like the Chevrolet Volt, the added weight of the battery might not be considered.)
