Over-the-knee boots first hit the runway in late 2009 and they were everywhere in 2010. Does this fad have another life or has it fizzled?
When times were good and consumers shopped till they dropped, sellers weren't too worried about getting rid of merchandise quickly.
Now, as shoppers worry about their finances and second-guess each purchase, retailers are fretting about which products to stock or quickly drop.
Over the knee boots exploded onto the scene two years ago but that can be an eternity in the fashion world. It's important for retailers to quickly gauge if the trend still has legs (pardon the pun).
Merchants don't want to get stuck with a lot of unsold good, said Greg Petro, CEO of market research firm First Insight.
