Even grade-school kids aren't safe from the reaches of the city coffers. Vista, Calif. wants to charge little league players $30 each for playing sports on city property.

The $30-per-player fee applies to any member of an athletic team using city fields. Vista City Council hopes the measure will raise $135,000 to help pay for field maintenance.
