Gail Sedigh's Art For Kids manufactures all sorts of furniture for children, from cribs to toy chests to changing tables. Prices range from around $1,000 to $4,000 or more.
"We're doing fine," said Sedigh, who just outfitted Mariah Carey's Los Angeles nursery.
Because people want the best for their babies, Sedigh has been able to carve out a niche focusing on babies and expensive decor. "I think there are still people out there who said, 'This is an incredibly happy time of my life and I want to milk it for all it's worth.' "
These budding entrepreneurs didn't have to wait for an MBA to get down to business.
