Joe Reynolds throws a rubber ball at the person being interviewed.
Hiring manager: Joe Reynolds
Company: Red Frog Events
Headquarters: Chicago
Website: www.redfrogevents.com

Because our company specializes in creating adventure races, we look for people who fit our quirky culture and have the right drive and personality. That's tough, though, when you receive nearly 2,000 resumes a month and can hire just one out of every 150 applicants.

That's why the first thing we do when an applicant walks in the room is toss him a rubber interview ball that's covered with all sorts of wacky questions like, "What was your first AOL screen name," and "Would you rather have legs the size of your fingers or fingers the size of your legs?"

When the applicant catches the ball, the question closest to his or her right thumb is the first question of the interview. Not only does that set the tone for who we are but we get a glimpse into who they are as a person. --C.W.
