To show just how valuable the Apple stores have been to the company, Apple made the stores' mastermind its third-highest-paid executive.

Johnson, who departed Apple to take over as J.C. Penney's CEO at the beginning of this month, made $700,000 in salary and took home a $700,000 bonus to match.
