The former Microsoft veteran led development on several versions of the Windows operating system before leaving for the plum role of Senior Vice President of Amazon's Ecommerce Platform in 2006. Valentine first made a name for himself in the late 1990s, when Steve Ballmer enlisted him to push Windows 2000 out the door.
