8. Hyundai/Kia is on fire
The Korean automaker has posted a 22% sales boost so far in 2012 as its market share has grown from 8.1% to 8.7%, putting it in hot pursuit of American Honda. Sales would be even higher, save for capacity constraints. Importantly, both its brands have staked out distinctive market positions: Hyundai sells more car for less, while Kia is the value brand with a youthful outlook.
