Turning meetings into investing lessons
Turning meetings into investing lessons
Jim Schlabach, 55
On a crusade since: 2004
Day job: Information technology manager for GE Transportation

Achievement: Taking the time to educate dozens of people working for him about all aspects of personal finance

Why he's a hero: For eight years Schlabach has opened his weekly staff meeting with Finance 101, over time covering every thing from asset allocation to 401(k) loans.

"Some people talk about the weather. I talk about finance. It bonds people," he says.

His passion for teaching prompted his Erie, Pa., staffers to jointly nominate him as their Money Hero.
