Every time Apple releases a new phone or tablet, the Portland, Ore., company Grove only has a few weeks to make its signature bamboo cases. Here's an inside look at how they do it.

Grove's bamboo cases are popular because they are environmentally friendly and made in the U.S.A., said co-founder Ken Tomita. The process starts with drawings. For the newest design, Tomita said they dug up an old prototype. But they've added a new feature: The cover now attaches permanently to the wood case.
