Before the top company on this year's Best Companies to Work For list launches a product such as Google Docs or Google for public consumption, its employee base tests the service out within the Googleplex. The company says that its employees have over 1,000 groups on Google , from citrus aficionados to barefoot running enthusiasts. Google's executives actively contribute to the public side of Google , with Vic Gundotra, the executive who heads up the platform, in over 900,000 "circles," and CEO Larry Page in well over 1 million. The company also continues its popular blogs -- the original since 2004 -- and says it uses its blog network largely instead of press releases.
Google also uses social media heavily in its recruiting operation. In addition to a Google students page, the company posts live streams of Google+ Hangouts on Google provide applicants with feedback on the hiring process, such as what code languages to know at interviews.
