Quick, sharp, responsive

kia cadenza side

But what really impressed me about the Cadenza is how it drives. This isn't a big wallowing car that takes to the highway like an inflatable raft dropped in a pool. It's quick, sharp and responsive.

On paper, the Cadenza's 293 horsepower V6 and six-speed transmission certainly seem like they should be adequate. But they're truly impressive in real life. Squeeze down on the gas pedal and the Cadenza takes off, pouring that power through a smoothly shifting transmission.

Use the steering wheel mounted paddles to downshift into a curve and that big body stays nicely planted even as the car's weight shifts hard onto its outside wheels. The steering, meanwhile, feels precise, making it easy to keep the car exactly where you want it.

The Cadenza doesn't come with a Sport Mode because it doesn't need one. This car lives in Sport Mode. Maybe it's not a sports car, but it has agility and reflexes that belie its size, comfort and fuel economy.
