Another one of China's "big four" state-owned banks, Agricultural Bank of China is particularly active in rural areas, and has more small and medium-sized businesses on its books than its peers.
But according to Standard & Poor's, the bank also has "weaker loan quality" than its rivals, along with corresponding levels of non-performing loans.
