Inside the Chevrolet Corvette

From the original 1953 convertible to the 1963 Sting Ray to today's Corvette Stingray, the Chevrolet Corvette has been both an engineering and design icon for all of General Motors. It's intended to represent the best of everything GM can do.

From this angle, today's Corvette looks complex and aggressive, shot through with air vents. Each one has an important function. Combined, they keep the car cool and controlled at high speeds.

Seen from the side, the Stingray's profile is beautifully simple. It could almost be drawn with just two lines. One line sweeps gently from the nose and over the front and back wheels. Another line arches up to create the roof and the two lines meet at the back. As with all the best design, it's made to look easy.
