Robinhood was founded by Vlad Tenev and Baiju Bhatt as a way to get everyone to invest in the stock market.
The app, which offers free trading, has more than 2 million users.
"The way I define success is by solving one of the big problems right now, which is income inequality," Bhatt told CNNMoney.
He said getting younger people in the habit of saving would make him feel like he's accomplished something.
"The vast majority of Americans don't really save money. That's one of the big drivers of income inequality in this country where we've got a small part of our population that is saving money and making money off of their money while the majority of people in this country, they live paycheck to paycheck."
