I worked as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for seven years before I became an RN. I've worked in a clinic, I've worked in nursing homes and I have worked in occupational health.
Even with that experience, I still cannot get a job now as an RN.
I'm a single mom with four daughters, and I have been searching for a nursing job for a year. I have applied to hundreds of positions and I get the standard email back telling me thanks, but we have identified a group of other candidates.
These emails come back within five minutes of me applying. They tell you that you don't have any experience.
Well geez, I would have RN experience if they would give me a chance!
