When the president entered office in 2009, the economy was issue No. 1. It still is today. Here's a look at how the economy has improved in some ways, but not others.

Wages are stagnant, but stocks certainly aren't. Investors who stayed in the market have gained back their losses, as stocks reached record highs in 2013.

That said, only half of Americans actually invest in the stock market, and the gains go disproportionately to white, educated, high-income earners.
