It's a pricey time to be a java junkie.

Brazil, one of the biggest exporters of coffee beans in the world, suffered a severe drought last year that has hurt coffee supplies and sent prices soaring.

As a result, prices for brews from Starbucks (SBUX) to Folgers' have moved higher. Most recently, Kraft Foods (KRFT) announced it would hike the price of the majority of its K-Cup offerings by 9% starting Dec. 28.

While the situation in Brazil has improved, consumers will likely continue to see price increases -- especially for the higher end coffee that is grown in the drought-stricken region. Strong worldwide demand will see to that, said Jack Scoville, a commodities futures broker with the Price Futures Group in Chicago. "It's definitely going to have an effect," he said.
