Douglas County is building up businesses and building out homes. Job gains are up across a range of sectors as new companies move in and existing ones bolster employee rolls.
Health care technology company TriZetto opened its new headquarters in Douglas and reportedly plans to hire 750 over five years. Credit-card company Visa reportedly is expected to add 400 new jobs within five years at its global technology center. Real estate investor Redwood Trust also plans to hire 500.
With these jobs come plans for a new 12,500-home subdivision. Denver's M.D.C. Holdings was recently tabbed to build the 3,400-acre Sterling Ranch site in northwest Douglas County. Homebuilding on this scale is expected to create hundreds of jobs, from construction and manufacturing to mortgages and real estate.Subscribe to Money Magazine
