For an exclusive CNNMoney list, research firm Universum Global surveyed college students around the world to see where they most want to work.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch

  • Rank (engineering students): N.A.

Headquarters: Charlotte, NC
No. of employees: 242,000

What makes it great: The financial services heavyweight recently reached a $16.65 billion settlement -- the biggest in history -- with the Justice Department, which had accused the bank of misleading buyers of mortage-backed securities.

But the bank keeps growing -- in fact, its hiring of new grads jumped 40% this year.

Employees "have the opportunity to move across different businesses and have a long-term career here," says Sandra Hurse, head of of junior talent for Global Banking & Markets. And with offices in 40 countries, the bank offers a chance for a truly international career.

What they're looking for: Banking is a "relationship business" that requires diverse experience and a track record of excellence, Hurse says. Bank of America's internship program is a great gateway for students interested in investment banking, sales and trading, corporate credit and other fields.
