It's been a rough few days in tech, with several well-known services killed off or marked for an imminent death.

Google warned in March that its RSS reader was on its annual "spring cleaning" shutdown list. Google Reader, like other RSS readers, let users "subscribe" to new posts from any website. That method of keeping up with site updates never became a daily habit for all Web users, and the rise of social media helped kill services like Reader.
