Clothing itself is getting smarter, too.

Levi's and Google (GOOG) have teamed up on a smart jacket ($350) with touch and gesture controls embedded into the sleeve. When paired with a smartphone, you can brush or tap on the sleeve to do things like pause your music or get directions.

The jacket is available in select stores and online.

Accessories are getting the high-tech treatment, as well. Last year, JanSport announced a prototype for a high-tech backpack with programmable fabric. When wearing the backpack, users can share a song, music video or website link with anyone nearby by holding up their smartphone and using an accompanying app.

The backpack comes from the Advanced Functional Fabrics of America, a nonprofit that aims to reinvent fabrics as programmable devices. The team's latest prototype is a sports jersey that would let spectators at a game scan an app over players to see their stats, such as rebounds, assists and points.
