Ted Takes Off

(Business 2.0) – Bankrupt United Airlines hopes to regain altitude with the launch of Ted, its new discount carrier. The branding is at best playful--and at worst worthy of ridicule (see "101 Dumbest Moments," page 72). Either way, analysts question United's ability to overcome hurdles like high overhead and labor inflexibility that plagued its previous discount effort, the ill-fated Shuttle by United.
