The Champagne of Water
By Georgia Flight

(Business 2.0) – How can you tell if buyers are thirsty for your product? It's a good sign if it shows up on the black market. Take Australia's Cape Grim water, which has been vanishing from Qantas flights in Los Angeles and surfacing in New York delis for $12 a bottle. Purity is to blame for the impure dissemination: The water is bottled in Cape Grim, Tasmania, which is said to have Earth's least-polluted environment. Since 1998, it has been available almost exclusively in first- and business-class Qantas cabins. Now Japanese distributor KIT has inked a deal for 4.7 million liters, which it will start selling Aug. 1 to hotels and restaurants in Japan.
