Mapping Your Next Home
By Michael V. Copeland

(Business 2.0) – The Internet has been atwitter over satellite mapping applications from Google and Microsoft. But once you're past the novelty of seeing your house from space, what's next? A service called HomePages, launching in October, wants to monetize those bird's-eye views. The new offering from real estate website HouseValues, based in Kirkland, Wash., uses high-resolution photos--shot from airplanes to present even greater detail than satellite images--layered with data. Prospective buyers can type in an address to see homes for sale, nearby schools and test scores, and the closest parks and churches. The service is free to consumers; HomePages will earn money from agents who pay to list there.
