(FORTUNE Magazine) – InterNorth of Omaha will spend $2.3 billion to acquire Houston Natural Gas, creating a 37,000-mile pipeline system -- the longest in the U.S. Blaming losses and foreign competition, major U.S. steelmakers have ended their nearly 30-year-old joint bargaining agreement with the United Steelworkers of America. Each company will now negotiate separately with the union.
