(FORTUNE Magazine) – Take the case of 3-year-old Yael Miller. Her mother, Joni Zuckerbrow-Miller, felt it wasn't right that Yael's haircut at the Yellow Balloon Hair Salon in Westwood, California, cost $12 -- that's $2 more than the shop charged her 4-year-old son . . . Mrs. Zuckerbrow-Miller sued the salon, alleging sex discrimination . . . Her lawyer, Gloria Allred, president of the Women's Equal Rights Legal Defense and Education Fund in Los Angeles, says the suit was filed to end a ''stereotyped and discriminatory practice'' . . . For Ms. Allred, the settlement marks another victory . . . Last year she sued a cleaner in the Los Angeles area that charged more to clean women's clothes than men's. -- From a news report in the Wall Street Journal.
