(FORTUNE Magazine) – BOCA RATON, FLA. -- Lawyers for a 14-year-old grocery bag boy suspended from his job for wearing an earring are filing a sex discrimination complaint . . . Christopher Martin was told by his Publix supermarket employer March 11 he could not wear an earring to work . . . Lawyer Joe Vassallo of Lake Worth said Thursday a complaint is being filed with both the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the state Commission on Human Relations. The basis for the complaint is that Publix allows girls to wear earrings . . . ''This is not a monumental case,'' Vassallo said. ''But as small as it may seem . . . every individual's right is protected by those . . . who take the time and energy to express those rights.'' -- From a UPI dispatch.
